round gothic brooch with lapis lazuli

Round shield brooch with a lapis boss.

I made this brooch from copper and brass with a silver brooch catch on the reverse.The copper has been heat treated to give it a variety of shades, and has been lightly textured.

This was inspired by celtic shields, or at least the representation of them as found in fantasy films.....

The lapis lazuli is a good colour contrast to the gold coloured brass and the red and purply tints of the copper.

It is just over 1 1/2 inches or just under 4cms across. It will come in a handmade woolen pouch for storage.

It would look great on a formal suit or on a nice chunky jumper.

I think this would make a good present for someone with an interest in ancient history, or fantasy role playing games.
It could even be worn by a man in the right context.
